Episode 119 – Podcast Cruise Details and Q&A

Podcast Cruise

Today, we have a very special episode. If you’ve been listening for the last few months, you’ve heard me talk a bit about the Stories of the Magic / Skywalking Through Neverland cruise that’s now less than a year away. 359 days from today, September 23, if I’ve counted right.

Well, on episode 134 of Skywalking Through Neverland, I sat down with Richard & Sarah Woloski and we talked all about the cruise, and I’m going to play that portion of their show for you here. We have a lot of great details, fun ideas, and answered questions, so if you’re curious at all about joining us for this cruise, or if you’re curious about Disney cruises in general, you’re going to want to hear this.

This chat is part of a much longer great episode of Skywalking Through Neverland, so I encourage you, after you’ve listened to this and contacted me for more details about the podcast cruise, head over there and listen to the rest of their show. I’ll include a link in the show notes here, of course.

Episode 117 – Kimberly Markey (Disney Runner & Cancer Conqueror), Part 1

Kimberly Markey & 100 Medals

Today we’re going a little out of the ordinary, even for me, but for very good reason. If you’re looking for a story of Disney-love, of inspiration, and of hope, this is the interview for you. Kimberly Markey is one of my Disney running friends, but even if you’re not a runner you need to hear her story—of challenging herself with running, experiencing Disney like she never had before, battling and beating cancer while taking on some of the toughest race challenges I know about, and so much more!

I also have some listener shout outs to Liz, Jill, Sean, and Michelle!

In this episode, Kimberly talks about…

  • What’s making her smile today
  • How & when she became a runner
  • Going from that first race to the 50 or so a year she does now
  • When races become just a collection of medals rather than an achievement
  • How her love of Disney began
  • Running her first Disney race, especially running up Main Street U.S.A. and through Cinderella Castle
  • Her first Goofy Challenge race weekend—the weekend it basically snowed at Walt Disney World
  • The biggest challenge of multiple-day race weekends for her
  • Her cancer diagnosis in 2013
  • The many runs she did during her cancer treatments—you have to hear this to believe it!
  • How running made all the difference during her cancer treatments

Episode 116 – Lou Mongello (WDW Radio & WDW Trivia Books)

Lou MongelloWe have an early morning interview with the host of WDW Radio and the creator of several books, audio tours, Lou Mongello. This was going to be a 1-hour interview, but thanks to the seemingly inevitable Skype issues, we only had about half of that time. Of course, this just means I’ll have to have Lou back on! It was 6:00 in the morning for me when we started and everyone else in the house was asleep, so if I sound a little subdued, it’s because I was trying not to wake a sleeping 16-month-old. If you’re a parent, you know that’s the paramount rule of life!

In this episode, Lou talks about…

  • What’s making him smile today
  • How he became interested in Disney
  • How his books & WDW Radio came to be—the condensed version
  • His greatest fear as he transitioned from his “traditional” job to doing his Disney stuff full-time, and his “what if” moment
  • The fear that you need to have as an entrepreneur
  • How he’s built the WDW Radio community
  • Talking to listeners as individuals
  • Figuring out your “why”
  • Creating initial connections and caring at scale
  • Why he’s created the specific products he has
  • When the term “WDW Radio” came to be and why he chose it
  • A little about the Dream Team Project
  • A shout out to the Be Our Guest Podcast and their recent 12-hour live show raising money for Give Kids the World
  • If he could have any job working for the Walt Disney Company, what it would be and why
  • His advice to you for following your dreams
  • Shameless Plug Time
