Episode 074 – Joe Cosgrove, Part 1

Joe CosgroveIn this episode we begin a new 3-part interview with the author of Walt Dreamers Me, Joe Cosgrove. Joe has a long and interesting history, including connections with Disney, the Disney Studios, and many other well-known people (a couple of whom I completely butchered the pronunciation of their names). Something else that made this interview extra-fun for me was getting to conduct it in person in the Club 1901 Lounge, Disney California Adventure’s private lounge for Club 33 members and their guests. As I mentioned at the end of the last interview, this one is a bit different than what you’re used to hearing on the show, but I think you’ll find it quite interesting.

As a reminder, I’m bringing back the Disneyana Show offer I made back in July. For a limited time, you can get an autographed copy of Faith and the Magic Kingdom for $17, of Once Upon YOUR Time, my first book, for $6, or of both for $20! For more details or to order, go to storiesofthemagic.com/christmas14. If you want either or both of these to give as Christmas gifts, be sure to buy them on or before December 20 so I can get them to you in time!

In this episode Joe talks about:

  • The significance of the movies Snow White, Fantasia, Pinocchio, and Cinderella in his early life;
  • A positive addiction he developed when he was a kid that still continues today;
  • How he got started in radio;
  • Harold Okenga and Park Street Church;
  • Charles Fuller, Walt Disney, and their similarities;
  • What brings people happiness;
  • More about Charles Fuller;
  • Some lessons Fuller taught, and why they’re so important.
